Day 5 – Kejetia Market is a huge market and is often cited as the largest in West Africa; there are according to Google 11,000 stalls and at least four times as many people working here… today was our day to visit!
We were so fortunate to be shown the market by a great Bead Trader, Ibrahim Muhammad!!! The beads stalls had been all moved due to a big disruption at the market last year – new stalls were suppose to have been built but nothing has happened ..but Ibrahim knew where everyone was and took us patiently around … so much fun!! Lots of new goodies will be coming to the website!! Those Mali coin beads Ibrahim is displaying are packed away to go home – will have to let a certain wonderful client know these will be back in stock!!!
Afterwards we took a little tuk tuk to the Cultural Center where another Trader friend, Harouna was waiting for us … he gave me my first Malt drink which was incredibly quenching!! Another very generous and kind person… and since the tuk tuk was just too much fun we took one home …. and you guessed it to another much deserved beer!!! 😂 My phone died way too early so my friend, Dela was the photographer … he will be sending me the photos as soon as he can … so this post will be in two parts .. to be cont’d tomorrow!!…. Cheers!
