Today we set out for the Makola Market .. On the way we stopped at Elle Loko which is a really beautiful store located in a elegant old house … The store carries various brands i follow on Instagram.. a beautiful bag by the amazing AAKS, another gorgeous couple of bags by Aketeke and many other artisans… it was so fun to pursue these after following them and being so amazed by the beautiful work they do. Just love seeing Ghana succeeding like this … another fun thing i found out is the bottom floor of this majestic old house has two airbnb rooms!!! Definitely would like to try it next visit!!
Then it was on to Makola … this market is most famous for the warehouse of Batik Fabric .. literally wall to wall and to the ceiling!!! There were a lot of other products there too … and lots and lots of people!! It was so much fun walking around.. we had a mission to find a big needle and string to sew the bags full of goodies shut ready for the plane!! One thing i realized is if you look at the big picture in Ghana it looks chaotic, messy, decrepit … all the negatives. But if you stop and really look you will see the small little oasises people make around themselves .. perfect, organized and beautiful. It took me a long time to see passed the chaos to the still points … the beauty that is Ghana, her people.

Also we popped in to see another fantastic success story Osei Duro … we didn’t get to see behind the scenes but it was nevertheless fun to see the clothing in real life. I really love their insta page!!!!!
