Handpainted Recycled Glass

A strand of about 36 hand painted Recycled Glass Beads strung on string 18″ long. These beads are sometimes called bottle glass beads and once made are painted by hand. The design on these beads resemble eyes and eye beads were used to ward off evil spirits and when worn would protect the wearer from harm. The beads are about 11×14 mm. These beads are hand made so will vary in size and colour.

These recycled glass beads were purchased straight from the small factory which hand crafts them using the methods of their ancestors, from crushing recycled bottles all the way to firing them in a wood burning oven.
