Handpainted Recycled Glass Beads

One bracelet sized strand of about 14 hand painted Recycled Glass Beads on each strand which are strung on string 10″ long. The beads are about 20x9mm and are teal blue with white and royal blue hand painted ‘eyes’. These eyes were used to ward off evil and to act as protection.(There were 2 bracelets but have broken up the pair.)

These recycled glass beads were handcrafted in Ghana, Africa by crushing old, discarded glass, adding colorant and then pouring the powder into clay molds. The stem of a local plant is added, this burns away during firing, leaving a hole for stringing. The beads are fired in a wood burning earthen oven. The beads are then hand painted and then refired.
