    1 bracelet sized strands of 11 tubular Hand painted  Beads strung on string. These Recycled Glass beads are about 6x24 mm and are dark grey with blue and grey swirls. These recycled glass beads were handcrafted in Ghana, Africa by crushing old, discarded glass and then pouring the powder into clay molds. The beads are then handpainted. The stem of a local plant is added, this burns away during firing, leaving a hole for stringing. The beads are fired in a wood burning earthen oven. Ghana is famous for this type of bead. Funky Frog bought these beads straight from the Bead Maker in Ghana.

These recycled glass beads were handcrafted in Ghana, Africa by crushing old, discarded glass, adding colorant and then pouring the powder into clay molds. The different colours come from the different coloured powdered glass that is poured into the molds (rather than being painted on later). The stem of a local plant is added, this burns away during firing, leaving a hole for stringing. The beads are fired in a wood burning earthen oven. Ghana is famous for this type of bead. There are also larger beads this same oatmeally colour as shown in the last photo..

  • These Recycled Glass Beads are a beautiful set of mix and match beads. You can either mix and match sizes and shapes of one colour or if you want something more colourful you could mix and match colours and sizes and shapes!! This mix and match set is a gorgeous soft Grey. Here we are presenting the bead which is a size 5 or 13-15mm. There are about 43 beads on each strand. The beads are beautifully polished by hand.     New colours in African Recycled Glass Beads ... a whole array of pastel colours ! The beads were created by the innovative Bead Designer, Tet in Ghana, West Africa. These gorgeous beads are hand made using the ancient methods with a fresh and soothing, soft look. This particular strand is in the tones of  smoke grey - a very delicate soft hue. There are 5 sizes in the Pastel Line. Size 6 - 17 mm/36 beads  Size 5 - 15 mm/40 beads Size 4 - 12 mm/51 beads Size 3 - 10 mm/60 beads and Size 2 - 8 mm/ 72 beads.

Ghana is famous for these recycled beads made from recycled glass bottles. These recycled beads were bought directly from the small factory in Accra, Ghana where the artisans hand make the beads in the labor intensive method of their ancestors from crushing glass to baking the final product in wood ovens. The Bead Designer of these beads creates beautiful, very contemporary recycled glass beads.
  • A strand of about 66 translucent soft grey Recycled Glass Beads strung on string 18" long. These beads are about 6mm. The beads are unpolished and natural. Photos don’t do these beads justice as they are translucent so it seems somehow the camera can’t quite catch them! They are handmade so colour, size and shape vary. These recycled glass beads were purchased straight from the small factory which hand crafts them using the methods of their ancestors, from crushing recycled bottles all the way to firing them in a wood burning oven. These small beads are the hardest to make as the smaller the bead is the easier it is to break.
  • A strand of about 27 tube shaped Recycled Glass Beads on string 24" long. There is a range of colours, textures, colours and shapes! You will receive a strand similar to the one in the photo with some variations. Ghana is famous for these recycled beads made from recycled glass bottles. These recycled beads were bought directly from the small factory in Accra, Ghana where the artisans hand make the beads in the labor intensive method of their ancestors from crushing glass to baking the final product in wood ovens. Please note the strand you will receive will be similar to the strand in the photo. There will be variations as the strand is hand strung and handmade.
