A truly spectacular strand of 51 Trade Beads strung on raffia 36" long. This mix of Venetian Beads has some real stars among them: 14 whimisical wedding cake beads (yellow and red) , a Hebron Bead (said to be made in Hebron in the 1800s) , several impeccable Bodom beads, 4 raised dot Skunk Venetian Beads (sadly the 5th which is blue with yellow dots is damaged), 3 vintage glass beads ..are some. A real collector's item! These beads have traveled across continents and oceans and show some of their wear. Somehow the evidence of their adventures only adds to their beauty. -

There is a small village, Kokofrom just outside Kumasi, Ghana where there are artisans who make lost wax brass beads in the same way as their ancestors. I asked them to create some closures for Funky Frog and this was the most exotic one! Each half of the closure is about 35mm. The closures are hand made so will vary in size and shape. The artisans use whatever scrap metal they can get their hands on form old taps to pipes to .. but they call it 'brass'. -

The Circle is is about 3.5" more or less. "The circle is a universal symbol with extensive meaning. It represents the notions of totality, wholeness, original perfection, Oneness, the Self, the infinite, eternity, timelessness, all cyclic movement, God ('God is a circle whose centre is everywhere and whose circumference is nowhere' (Hermes Trismegistus))."
