Royal Blue Recycled Glass

A strand of about 66 round translucent Saphire Blue Recycled Glass Beads which are strung on string 22″ long. The beads are about 9 mm. The beads are all handcrafted so will vary in colour, size and shape. The strand you will received will be similar to the photo but may have variations. These beads are not completely transparent as they have a denseness that still let the light shine through. Wikipedia says ‘Sapphire is a saturated shade of blue, referring to the gem of the same name.’

These recycled glass beads were handcrafted in Ghana, Africa by crushing old, discarded glass, adding colorant and then pouring the powder into clay molds. The stem of a local plant is added, this burns away during firing, leaving a hole for stringing. The beads are fired in a wood burning earthen oven.
