A beautiful grey with white Sun designs Clay Spindle bead from Mali. The beads are 28 mm in diameter. You will receive either a single bead or a strand as shown in the photos. Please note that these beads were handmade so each bead varies. My affection for these beads grew when I heard that these 'Spindles' actually evolved into the beads they are today because of our avid collectioner's heart (all Beaders have one of those!) Originally these Spindles were actually made to spin cotton but then people started collecting them because they were so beautiful. They became rare .. so some enterprising people started making new ones but more as the beads they are today... They are so beautiful and evoke the country, Africa just by handling them and by the fact they are made of Africa's earth. -

3 beautiful Clay Spindle beads from Mali strung on hemp. These beads have a beautiful geometric design and a smooth polished feel. The beads are about 15x20 mm in diameter. -
Gorgeous large grey with white designs clay bead from Mali about 25 mm in diameter. The bead is dusted with a white powder that settles into the engraved design. You can brush off the excess powder with a soft cloth. If you actually wash the bead it will change the look quite a bit, the grey is quite dark and the white powder can wash away just staying in the designs. Fun addition to any earthy project! -
