Red Tube Glass Beads with the hole in the middle of tube so has an irregular shape. These beads were found in the Koforidua Market in Ghana, W. Africa. Not sure of their origins. The beads are about 4x7 mm strung on raffia 23" long. -

A strand of about 52 hand painted, translucent Recycled Glass Beads strung on string 20" long. These beads are sometimes called bottle glass beads and once made are painted by hand. Some of the designs on these beads resemble eyes and eye beads were used to ward off evil spirits and when worn would protect the wearer from harm. These beads are a clear translucent green tinted glass with white designs. They are handmade so will vary in size and colours. Each bead is approx. 11x9 mm. These recycled glass beads were purchased straight from the small factory which hand crafts them using the methods of their ancestors, from crushing recycled bottles all the way to firing them in a wood burning oven. -
