Large Venetian Vintage Glass beads found in the Agboblushi Market in Accra, Ghana. The trader told me these beads were from northern Nigeria but I have not been able to find out anything about them. Red Elbow Beads that are made of a satiny smooth, very light acrylic or plastic. African Beads are gorgeous but a lot of people find they are heavy so beads that are lightweight but well made is always a great find. These beads do not look 'plastic' but mimic glass without the heft. About 23 beads which are about 30 mm x 8 mm strung on string about 30" long. -
12 contemporary glass Chevron Beads in black, lime with touches of red. These beads were probably made in India and traded in Ghana W. Africa. I found these beads in one of the largest beads markets, Koforidua Bead Market. Each bead is about 6 mm in diameter. These are the only beads available in this colour. You can buy strands of other colours here. -
A strand of about 66 round opaque Cherry Red Recycled Glass Beads which are strung on string 22" long. The beads are about 8 mm . The beads are all handcrafted so will vary in colour, size and shape. The strand you will received will be similar to the photo but may have variations. These beads are not completely transparent as they have a denseness that still let the light shine through. They remind me of ripe watermelon! There is a larger version of this bead here. These recycled glass beads were handcrafted in Ghana, Africa by crushing old, discarded glass, adding colorant and then pouring the powder into clay molds. The stem of a local plant is added, this burns away during firing, leaving a hole for stringing. The beads are fired in a wood burning earthen oven.
