These Recycled Glass beads have an earthy, natural feel and look. Ghana is famous for these recycled beads made from recycled glass bottles. Option 1 is a strand of about 40 17 mm translucent Red Recycled Glass Beads on string 25" long. Option 2 is one 17 mm translucent Red Recycled Glass Bead. These recycled beads were bought directly from the small factory in Accra, Ghana where the artisans hand make the beads in the labor intensive method of their ancestors from crushing glass to baking the final product in wood ovens. -

Large Venetian Vintage Glass beads found in the Agboblushi Market in Accra, Ghana. The trader told me these beads were from northern Nigeria but I have not been able to find out anything about them. A strand of Recycled Glass Waist beads strung on string 16" long. These are the smallest recycled glass beads and great spacer beads. These beads are a salmon red. There is an image which shows the different reds. And also an image that shows the two salmon reds. The salmon red is the lighter of the two. These were found in the Agboblushi Market in Accra ... the trader said they were from Abijhan, Cote d'Ivoire ... they remind me of fimo beads with a soft smooth feel .. the bead is round about 20x23 mm with a large almost 3mm hole .. the beads are handcrafted so will vary quite a bit in shape, size and pattern. A Bracelet Sized strand of tiny Purple Flower shaped Recycled Glass Beads on string. Each bead is about 11 mm x 2 mm. The beads are Flowers with one side Purple and the other Red. These beads are handmade so they will vary in size, shape and pattern. Purple is a very complex colour. There are so many variations. It is said purple symbolizes magic, mystery, spirituality, the sub-conscious, creativity, dignity, royalty – and it does evoke all of these meanings more so than any other color. These recycled glass beads were handcrafted in Ghana, Africa by crushing old, discarded glass, adding colorant and then pouring the powder into clay molds. The stem of a local plant is added, this burns away during firing, leaving a hole for stringing. The beads are fired in a woodburning earthen oven. Ghana is famous for this type of bead. -

These recycled glass beads were handcrafted in Ghana, Africa by crushing old, discarded glass, adding colorant and then pouring the powder into clay molds.
