A bracelet sized strand of about 11 extra large hand painted Recycled Glass Beads which is strung on string. The beads are about 31x17 mm and are colourful with various colours and designs. The beads are all handcrafted so will vary in colour, size and shape. The strand you will received will be similar to the photo but may have variations in colours. These recycled glass beads were handcrafted in Ghana, Africa by crushing old, discarded glass, adding colorant and then pouring the powder into clay molds. The stem of a local plant is added, this burns away during firing, leaving a hole for stringing. The beads are fired in a wood burning earthen oven. The beads are then hand painted and then refired. A strand of Recycled Glass Waist beads strung on string 16" long. These are the smallest recycled glass beads and great spacer beads. These beads are a salmon red. There is an image which shows the different reds. And also an image that shows the two salmon reds. The salmon red is the lighter of the two. The waist beads are hand made and therefore there will be variations in size and colour. Funky Frog loves to use these beads in tassels! -
These red Vintage Vinyl Beads are strung on string and a strand is 29" long.The 'heishi' beads are about 3 mm. You will receive a strand that is similar to the ones in the photos. These Vinyl Beads make great spacer beads. Folklore has it that these beads were made from old records but apparently they are actually made from an early rubber product called Vulcanite. Vulcanite is a hard, moldable rubber that has been formed by “vulcanizing” natural rubber through a curing process that involves high heat and the addition of sulfur. The result is a hard substance sometimes called “ebonite” that was used in the Victorian period to make mourning jewelry, combs, ornaments and buttons. -

A gorgeous strand of 44 turquoise and black Fused Recycled Glass beads on string 20" long. These recycled beads were bought directly from the small factory, TK Beads in Accra, Ghana where the artisans hand make the beads in the labor intensive method of their ancestors from crushing glass to baking the final product in wood ovens. These beads are made by recycling previously used beads, Ghana's answer to Fimo Beads! The beads are melted together in a clay oven to make this beautiful mosaic of colors. Each bead is approx. 12-13 mm. The beads are handcrafted so will vary in size, colour and shape. -
