These Recycled Glass beads have an earthy, natural feel and look. Ghana is famous for these recycled beads made from recycled glass bottles. Option 1 is a strand of about 40 17 mm translucent Moss Green Recycled Glass Beads on string 25" long. Option 2 is one 17 mm translucent Moss Green Recycled Glass Bead. These recycled beads were bought directly from the small factory in Accra, Ghana where the artisans hand make the beads in the labor intensive method of their ancestors from crushing glass to baking the final product in wood ovens.

Desiree designs, glazes and fires the beads in her pottery studio. These colourful beads captured my heart and are amongst the few beads i don't actually go and buy (though it is definitely on my bucket list!) Funky Frog has over the years gathered quite a collection. With Desiree's blessing Funky Frog is offering some of these beads. This way i can destash a bit so i can buy more!!! Always more!! New colours in African Recycled Glass Beads ... a whole array of pastel colours ! The beads were created by the innovative Bead Designer, Tet in Ghana, West Africa. These gorgeous beads are hand made using the ancient methods with a fresh and soothing, soft look. This particular strand is in the tones of luscious green grapes… Again the photos don't do justice to the almost etheral quality of these beads - a very delicate soft hue. There are 5 sizes in the Pastel Line. Size 6 - 17 mm Size 5 - 15 mm Size 4 - 12 mm Size 3 - 10 mm and Size 2 - 8 mm.

12 contemporary glass Chevron Beads in white, green and lime with touches of blue. These beads were probably made in India and traded in Ghana W. Africa. I found these beads in one of the largest beads markets, Koforidua Bead Market. Each bead is about 8 mm in diameter. These chevrons are available in strands here.

Africa and since they are very popular decided to get more in more colours and shapes! Each bead is about 6 mm in diameter. There are 4 colour variations to choose from. A strand of Kakamba Prosser Beads about 24" long. There are 4 strands for you to choose from. These are great spacer beads. Prosser beads are by extension any beads made by the 'Prosser' technique, invented by the Prosser brothers in 1840 in England for the purpose of making buttons. The process consists of molding a cold paste under great pressure and then firing it. Prosser Beads were distinct from other European trade beads in that they were produced in a great variety of colors, and were also translucent. They were received particularly well in the town of Kakamba in the Republic of the Congo – hence the name Kakamba Prosser Beads.

This strand would make a fabulous necklace as is or broken up would brighten up any project. Definitely one of my favourites!! The bead is also sustainable as it is made of crushed glass bottles ground to a fine powder. Each bead is then handpainted. A little work of art!!

A bracelet sized strand of about 11 large hand painted Recycled Glass Beads which is strung on string. The beads are about 25x13 mm and are colourful with various colours and designs. The beads are all handcrafted so will vary in colour, size and shape. The strand you will received will be similar to the photo but may have variations in colours. These recycled glass beads were handcrafted in Ghana, Africa by crushing old, discarded glass, adding colorant and then pouring the powder into clay molds. The stem of a local plant is added, this burns away during firing, leaving a hole for stringing. The beads are fired in a wood burning earthen oven. The beads are then hand painted and then refired.
